A $999,000 grant, awarded to the Moorpark Unified School District by the U.S. Department of Education recently, will boost creativity and enhance learning skills in local elementary classrooms.

I am responding to Moorpark Unified School District Superintendent Ellen Smith's article "Regarding school at Highlands," Sept. 19. Highlands residents appreciate Ms. Smith taking the time to address homeowners' questions and concerns.

Fillmore High School ophomore Alondra Gaytan fears she might be sidetracked by a relatively new state requirement: Students who don't pass at least five of the six parts of a state physical fitness test have to keep taking physical education classes until they pass.

I would like to set the record straight about management of funds for Moorpark Unified School District, specifically the Measure R bond funds used for school renovation.
