As the summer weather begins to fade away, local some schools have solar energy, new attendance boundaries and water well projects on their minds -- and on their board meeting agendas.

Local educators support reversal on algebra ruling (The Hanford Sentinel)

Many educators across the state expressed discontent in July, when the State Board of Education voted to make Algebra 1 mandatory for eighth grade students. On Sept. 4, some educators made an effort toward getting the vote reversed, when they filed a legal complaint against the state board of education. Some local educators voiced Thursday their support of the lawsuit.

Pioneer celebrates testing success (The Hanford Sentinel)

Cheers filled the new board room at Pioneer Union Elementary School District, after district Curriculum Director Mollie Acosta said that Pioneer Middle School had surpassed the state mark for proficiency on 2008 standardized tests.
